  7. DEC PATHWORKS for DOS/Windows v5.1
  8. ----------------------------------
  9. These instructions describe how to install the 3Com NDIS driver for the DEC
  10. PATHWORKS network operating system.  These instructions assume the DEC 
  11. PATHWORKS for DOS/Windows software has been installed on the hard drive 
  12. from the installation diskettes or CD-ROM. Refer to the DEC manual for 
  13. installation instructions if the software has not been installed.  Refer to
  14. the DEC manual for templates and options.  
  15.  
  16. Note: Read the WFW.TXT file on the EtherDisk diskette if installing
  17.       PATHWORKS with Windows for Workgroups v3.11. 
  18.  
  19.       Run the AutoLink program on the EtherDisk diskette if installing 
  20.       PATHWORKS with Retail NetWare or NetWare with ODI drivers. 
  21.  
  22. 1.  Go to the drive where the PATHWORKS software is installed. 
  23.  
  24. 2.  Change the directory to PCAPP.
  25.  
  26. 3.  Execute PWSETUP.
  27.  
  28. 4.  When prompted, enter the name of the directory where you want the 
  29.     software installed. The default is C:\PW. 
  30.  
  31. 5.  Choose CUSTOMIZE under the Select A Configuration Option menu.
  32.  
  33. 6.  Choose a template in the Select a Workstation Template menu.
  34.  
  35. 7.  Under the Customize: Modify Workstation Configuration menu, put an X
  36.     beside the Network Adapter Information line.
  37.  
  38. 8.  Additional menus will appear. Choose the appropriate options for your 
  39.     network environment. Refer to the DEC manual if there are questions 
  40.     regarding these menus.
  41.  
  42. 9.  Choose Other Network Adapter under the Customize: Network Adapter 
  43.     Information menu.
  44.  
  45. 10. If you are installing options other than Retail NetWare or NetWare with
  46.     ODI drivers, follow these instructions: 
  47.  
  48.     -  On the Driver File: line, type:
  49.      
  50.        A:\MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\EL90X\EL90X.DOS 
  51.

  53.     -  On the PROTOCOL.INI Stub: line, type: 
  54.     
  55.        a:\MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\EL90X\PROTOCOL.INI

  58. 11. Verify that (l) Ethernet is marked and select OK.
  59.  
  60. 12. Select OK under the Customize: Network Adapter Information menu.
  61.  
  62. 13. Additional menus will appear. Follow the DEC instructions to complete
  63.     the installation.

  65. 14. Reboot the computer.

  68. DEC PATHWORKS for DOS/Windows v4.1
  69. ----------------------------------
  70. To install DEC PATHWORKS version 4.1 on a DOS NDIS workstation, DOS must 
  71. be installed on the target workstation C: drive, or you must have a 
  72. bootable DOS floppy disk.  Follow these steps:
  73.  
  74. 1.  Insert the PATHWORKS DOS Client Setup diskette version 4.1 in your 
  75.     floppy drive.
  76.  
  77. 2.  Change to that drive and execute the NETSETUP.EXE program.
  78.  
  79. 3.  Follow the screens to select a transport protocol.
  80.  
  81. 4.  Insert the appropriate diskettes for the selection you made in step 3.
  82.    
  83. 5.  Select ETHERNET as your NIC type. 
  84.  
  85. 6.  Select the option (OTHER NDIS) NIC.
  86.  
  87. 7.  When prompted for the DRIVE:\PATH\FILENAME for the NDIS driver, type:
  88.  
  89.     A:\MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\EL90X\EL90X.DOS
  90.  
  91. 8.  When prompted for the full DRIVE:\PATH of the PROTOCOL.INI fragment,
  92.     type:
  93.  
  94.     A:\MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\EL90X\PROTOCOL.INI
  95.  
  96. 9.  Follow the rest of the installation screens and the procedure for 
  97.     writing the Key Disk.
  98.  
  99.     The NETSETUP program will build the PROTOCOL.INI file for you and 
  100.     modify your startup files to use the NIC you have selected.
  101.  
  102. NOTE: You must add the /n parameter to the line that starts the network 
  103.       scheduler in the STARTNET.BAT file.  For example:

  105.       %BOOT%\DECNET\sch /h /n
